Glitter Gel Application: Instructions & Tips

Regular glitters have a reputation of being messy to work with, but our glitter gels provide a mess-free and user-friendly solution! Whether you're new to glitter or a glitter enthusiast, here's a step-by-step guide on how to apply our glitter gel effectively:

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Before applying glitter gel, ensure that your skin is clean and dry. Our glitter gels are self-adhesive, so no glue is necessary. For eyeshadow, be sure to prime the lids with an eyeshadow primer. We recommend using our Mixing Potion as a long-wear and clear based primer.

Step 2: Choose Your Application Tool

We highly recommend using your fingers for the best application. You can also use a silicone brush for applying glitter gel. These tools allow for precise application and minimize mess. Please note the differences in each tool in the next step.

Step 3: Apply by Tapping

This is a key technique for applying our gel-based products. Instead of spreading or smearing the glitter gel, tap it onto the desired area. Tapping helps to evenly distribute the glitter particles without smudging the base makeup or disturbing the product underneath.

If you prefer using your fingers, make sure they are clean and dry. Pick up a little product at a time and work in thin layers (a little goes a long way). Tap the product on and build up coverage as needed. Tapping the product on with your finger allows a more even application and also sets the product for all day wear. 

If you prefer using a silicone brush, you can use the same tapping technique. Please be aware that a silicone brush probably wont disperse the product as evenly as your finger, but it is extremely helpful for precise placement and even creating shapes with the glitter gel. We still suggest tapping the product down with your finger to set it in place and make sure everything is laying flat.

Step 4: Build up if Necessary

If you want a more intense glitter effect, you can repeat the tapping process to build up the coverage. Avoid pressing too hard to prevent the gel from clumping or becoming uneven.

Step 5: Clean Up

If you made any mistakes or if glitter accidentally got on areas you didn't intend, use a clean mascara want to clean up any excess. You can also use a makeup remover (micellar water) and a cotton swab to clean up the edges for a polished look.

Step 6: Allow to Dry

Let the glitter gel dry completely. This usually takes under a minute. Avoid touching or rubbing the applied area while it's drying to prevent smudging.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Glittery Look

Once your glitter gel is dry and set, you're ready to flaunt your sparkling makeup or body art! They're budge-proof and long-wear so the glitter is ready to rock with you!
