The Beginning: A Spark of Inspiration

Slayfire Cosmetics officially launched in April 2018, but the story began much earlier. My name is Sarah Rose, and I've been an entrepreneur since the age of 13. I started out with small craft-based businesses, first making jewelry and later doing cosplay commissions, including props and wigs. It was through these creative ventures that I discovered my love for makeup. As a makeup enthusiast with a deep love for glitter, I often found myself frustrated with the products available on the market. I struggled with oily, hooded eyelids and sensory issues that made most glitter products uncomfortable to wear. I wanted to sparkle, but without the mess, hassle, or discomfort that usually came with it.

Determined to create something better, I started experimenting at home, blending ingredients and testing formulas. My goal was simple yet ambitious: to develop a glitter gel that was easy to apply, easy to remove, and comfortable for anyone with sensory sensitivities. After countless hours of research and trial and error, I finally perfected a budge-proof formula that met all my needs. It was a product I loved, and I knew others would too.

A Family Affair: Growing Together

For the first couple of years, I handled everything on my own while finishing my last two years of college. As Slayfire began to grow, so did the need for more hands on deck. That's when my family stepped in, turning this small business into a true family operation.

Today, Slayfire Cosmetics is run by myself, my sister, and our parents. I handle a wide range of tasks, from product creation to filling orders, and managing the behind-the-scenes operations like our website and social media. My sister plays a crucial role in filling and checking orders, ensuring everything is perfect before it reaches you. Our dad, who always receives compliments on his packaging skills (and rightfully so), helps fill orders and packages them with care. And our mom assists with various miscellaneous tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

The Name and the Aesthetic: True to Ourselves

You might be wondering, "Where did the name Slayfire come from?" Well, it was actually an accident! Back when I used to post my own makeup content, I was tagging a lipstick I used and mistakenly called it the wrong name. The lipstick was named Starflyer, but I tagged it as Slayfire instead. When I realized that name didn't exist, I claimed it as soon as I could. And just like that, Slayfire Cosmetics was born.

As for our brand's aesthetic, it's a reflection of my own interests and style. Imagine a blend of Lisa Frank rainbows and glitter, with a modern edge and a sprinkle of spooky elements. It's colorful, bold, and uniquely us. I almost went with a goth theme, but in the end, I decided that Slayfire had to be something true to myself—vibrant, fun, and a little bit edgy.

Our Mission: Sparkle Comfortably

At Slayfire Cosmetics, our mission has always been to create user-friendly and sensory issue-friendly products that allow every skin type to sparkle comfortably.  It all started with our budge-proof glitter gels that withstand any weather and are designed for makeup lovers who want to shine without compromise. Over the years, we’ve expanded our collection beyond just glitters to include eyeliners and eyeshadows, with the hope of continuing to expand our line of cosmetics.
